It’s hard to think of a better way to spend a Sunday morning. You’ll start with brunch at Blu Jam. Down the street is Crumbs & Whiskers, a cat café where you can sip coffee and play with rescued kittens. End the afternoon with a trip to the Melrose Trading Post to discover vintage and handcrafted goods from local merchants.
Sit down for brunch at Blu Jam Café
📍 7371 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046
The second that first fluffy bite of lemon ricotta pancakes hits your mouth, it’s like a choir of angels starts singing. But these aren’t just any angels – they’re reincarnations of Freddie Mercury, Whitney Houston, and that opera singer from the Guinness commercials, all belting out sweet melodies that make you forget you’re in a tiny breakfast joint and not lying on clouds in heaven itself.

Play with kittens at Crumbs & Whiskers
📍 7924 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046
Crumbs & Whiskers is like someone waved a magic wand and turned your crazy cat lady neighbor’s living room into a cozy cafe. They partner with rescues who save homeless cats and kittens at risk of euthanasia in high kill shelters, and allow guests to reserve a time to come in, drink coffee, and play with for 30-70 minutes. All of the cats are available for adoption.

Explore vintage goods at the Melrose Trading Post
📍 3205 Washington Blvd. Marina Del Rey, CA 90292
If a giant kaleidoscope exploded and rained down its colorful contents onto a Fairfax parking lot, you’d basically have the Melrose Trading Post. Vintage band tees, kitschy ceramic tchotchkes, and aisles upon aisles of groovy threads all beckon you with their neon signs and overstuffed racks. You’ll definitely end up dropping way too much cash, but hey, at least you scored that mint condition Black Flag shirt and a ’70s tiki mug to drown your buyer’s remorse.
