We’re spending an evening in the Arts District of DTLA. Start at Wurstkuche, an industrial-chic German sausage kitchen offering a variety of sausages and Belgian beers in a vibrant communal setting. Next, head to Death & Co., a moody speakeasy known for its creative concoctions. Finish off the night at XLanes, a late night bowling alley that’s a guaranteed good time.
Eat exotic sausages and Belgian fries at Wurstkuche
📍 800 E 3rd St, Los Angeles, CA 90013
Forget artisanal cheese plates and microbrews with names longer than a Dostoevsky novel. Wurstkuche offers a roster of exotic sausages – rattlesnake, rabbit, chicken apple & spices (for the less adventurous) – piled high on warm pretzel buns and accompanied by sizzling toppings. Picture a scene out of Game of Thrones, frosty mugs of craft beer overflow on communal tables. It’s messy, it’s loud, and it’s the kind of place where a good time goes down as smoothly as the imported Belgian beer you’re holding, leaving you feeling like a champion after slaying a dragon (or, you know, a really good bratwurst).

Step into the dimly lit speakeasy at Death & Co.
📍 818 E 3rd St, Los Angeles, CA 90013
Death & Co.’s Los Angeles outpost features two distinct bars. The main cocktail den is a vibrant lounge offering a 25-drink menu categorized into five sections: “fresh and lively,” “light and playful,” “bright and confident,” “elegant and timeless,” and “boozy and honest.” Expect thoughtfully crafted and wildly creative concoctions that push the boundaries of flavor combinations.
On the other hand, Standing Room, the walk-up bar, provides a more approachable experience with a menu focusing on familiar ingredients and flavor profiles. This includes classic cocktails like highballs, sazeracs, and rum sours, making it an ideal starting point or a satisfying way to end your visit. Alongside the cocktails, you can find a selection of beers, sakes, and snacks to complement your drink.
Both bars offer a delightful experience, showcasing Death & Co.’s expertise in mixing innovative and traditional elements to create memorable libations.

Head to late-night bowling at XLanes
📍 333 S Alameda St #300, Los Angeles, CA 90013
From the moment you spot the bowling pin marquee glowing like a beacon, you know you’re in for a strike or two. Inside, it’s a mix of scruffy urbanites, birthday party crews, and rowdy night owls all united in their pursuit of that most sacred of accomplishments – demolishing ten perfectly arranged pins with a well-hurled sphere. The atmospheric rumbling of balls hammering into their targets provides a steady bassline under the clinking of craft cocktails and raucous shouts of “Who’s up next?” To your left, a couple furtively makes out between frames. To your right, a group of Coachella alumni slosh PBR tallboys after someone just bowled a turkey. You grab a house ball – 8 pounds feels just right tonight – give it a couple chalky practice rolls in your palm, stride toward the approach, and… boom goes the dynamite.
